Student with a Gun

Beyond Lock-Down Drills

A presentation for educators, administrators and staff that will prepare them for the unexpected and unthinkable – a student with a gun in the school. While lock-down drills and written emergency response plans are important, they alone can not adequately prepare teachers and staff for the threat of lethal violence. This presentation will show them how to reduce that threat before it occurs, and how to respond to a lethal threat if it does occur in a way that will give them and their students the best chance for survival.

First Line of Defense

How your specialists can create a safer school climate.

A presentation for educators in non-core academic subjects (physical education and health teachers, specialists, elective area and vocational teachers), and professional support personnel. These employees have frequent contact with students outside the formal classroom setting. If properly trained, they have a unique opportunity to provide their school with early recognition and an appropriate response to potentially threatening behavior in a manner that can save lives.

What Educators Are Saying About These Presentations

Extremely informative.  One teacher commented that this was the most beneficial in-service information they had received in many years.  Another commented that it was informative, extremely realistic and presented in a way that gave them information that was very useful.  I would certainly recommend this presentation to anyone working in a school.

Art Reilly, High School Athletic Director

You did a fantastic job on your presentation on school safety. I have taught for many years and that presentation was one of the best I have seen. The presentation was very professionally done and held the interest of all the professionals that were in the room. It was the last part of a long professional development day but you kept everyone interested on the subject. NICE JOB!

Mrs. Brouker, High School Physical Education Teacher

Thank you for your presentation on school shootings and violence.  You were very well organized and very clear in your explanations.  As much as it is a topic we would all like to pretend will never happen within our school community, the reality is that it can happen anywhere.  I left the seminar feeling more educated and prepared to deal with recognizing potential trouble in our school and knowing how to react if we ever should have a problem.  Thank you again for an informative and necessary presentation.
